VERY excited about visiting the Moniker Art Fair at the London Docklands in October-and it’s my birthday so extra cool! This is much more of an urban Art Fair than most, nice and gritty with live street art around nearby locations!!
Ive visited Brick Lane for The London Tattoo Convention, the venue is amazing, love the intensity of it, despite the fact it’s flooded with light- perfect.
I love the juxtaposition of that urban style freedom of expression and traditional subject matter, I’m a big advocate of Bruce Lee’s theory of “Using no way as way, having no limitation as your only limitation”- a concept that is notoriously harder than it seems to take on board, but I will continue to endeavour to try nonetheless.
Take my painting Amaelia, featured above- is the background created from the absorption of “urban” style freedom, or the manifestation of the energetic frequencies of a present soul energy? In my experience it could easily be either, but I enjoy painting with a complexity of message or as development tool- but also simply just because that’s what my painting has ended up being through simple enjoyment; I relate to and love pieces for the feelings they ignite in me- but also that the image pleases me and matches my colour scheme; I enjoy using certain materials because they are relevant to the subject matter and have been carefully chosen, and also sometimes because I’ve just been gifted something I’ve never before used and I’m excited to try! None has anymore importance or relevance to me, as they all inspire an energetic reaction in the creation and the viewing of the final piece.
I’m not planning to exhibit this year- but watch this space for next?
